'The Campaign' Heats Up As Two New Posters Debut

Campaign Poster

Have we mentioned we're excited about "The Campaign"? Because we're pretty excited about "The Campaign," the new political comedy that pits Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis against one another as competitors for a North Carolina Congressional seat. The only problem with the film is that its marketing campaign is asking us to pick sides between the two opponents, which is near impossible considering how freaking ridiculous both of them are.

For now, we'll go with Galifianakis' Marty Huggins (see above), if only because he's living a pug lifestyle. But we can't deny the appeal that Ferrell's Cam Brady has as well, especially with that bald eagle on his arm. In the end, they both are terrible options for a state's political representative, but who's paying attention to that sort of stuff anyways?

"The Campaign" marketing campaign has been pitting Huggins and Brady against one another since its beginning to hilarious results. Even the film's first trailer had their political rivalry as its focus. It's clear to see how both of these characters have been influenced by actual political candidates, so that makes their faux race even funnier.

MTV News caught up with director Jay Roach back in April to talk about the upcoming film. Roach, who recently directed HBO's political film "Game Change," said it was fun to work on a movie that was both political and a comedy.

"I do think politics have become kind of a circus anyway. We were just a contrived circus, as opposed to the real one," he said. "Because it's Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, and they are determined to smear each other to destruction, we use that premise some of the campaign ads and campaign stunts pretty far."

"The Campaign" also stars Dan Aykroyd, Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, Brian Cox and John Lithgow. It's due in theaters on August 10.
