Olivia Wilde and her husband Tao Ruspoli announced their separation on February 8, after eight years of marriage.
A friend of Olivia, says it was her decision to call off the marriage .
"It was Olivia's decision...for the typical Hollywood reasons," a source close to Wilde told Us magazine. "Her career has exploded and she saw being married is not as much fun. She feels she missed out on being single getting married so young, and wants to sow her wild oats."
"She is a hot property now ... it was weighing her down being married," the source added.
Olivia has five new films in her kitty. Welcome To People, Butter, Now and The Change-Up under production and Cowboys & Aliens due in theaters on July 29.
The 26-year-old Tron star married the Italian-American documentary filmmaker, flamenco guitar player, and son of an Italian prince on June 7, 2003, in Washington, Virginia, after dating for six months, when Olivia was just 16-year-old. The two exchanged their vows on a school bus with only a pair of witnesses.
A source told People that the two were living separately for some time after trying to work out their differences.
Olivia, who is currently in Paris shooting for Alex Kurtzman's Welcome To People, last addressed her tweet to Tao on February 3:
"Shooting nights on "Welcome To People" is fun cuz everyone's so tired they laugh at my jokes. I'm killin it with the penguin, @TaoRuspoli."
