Jesse Metcalf — best known for playing John the Teen Gardener on Desperate Housewives and Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald on the now-defunct NBC sudster Passions — has been cast in his latest small screen project: TNT’s Dallas redux.
The new Dallas will focus on the Ewing offspring as they clash over the family dynasty. The hunk is among a host of young stars set for the pilot, which will mark the return of the legendary Southfork oil-wealthy families first introduced to American audiences in 1979. Dallas remained one of TV’s most enduring primetime soaps years after it left the air in 1991. Jesse’s inked a deal to play Christopher, the adopted son of Bobby and Pam Ewing.
In addition to original Dallas stars Larry Hagman (J.R. Ewing), Bobby Ewing (Patrick Duffy), and Linda Gray (Sue Ellen Ewing), who have signed on to briefly reprise their famous roles, the cast will be rounded out by Josh Henderson, another Desperate vet, and Jordana Brewster, Dr. Jill Roberts in NBC’s Chuck. Josh will play John Ross, J.R.‘s son, while Jordana comes aboard as Elena, a raven-haired beauty who becomes involved in a love triangle with cousins John and Christopher.
