With dangerous protests taking place in Libya, Angelina Jolie released a statement today that takes up the cause of refugees fleeing the troubled country, along with those in Africa's Cote d'Ivoire.
Said this UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador:
"We don't want to look back and find their deaths on our hands. As we witness these newest crises unfold in west and north Africa, it is critical that all parties respect the fundamental right of people in danger to flee to safety. All I'm asking is that civilians be protected, and not targeted or harmed."
Jolie has been in been in Kabul, Afghanistan this week, spending with with residents that are attempting to return home after a decade of exile.
"We need to remember that if we don't support these people in the long term to really get back on their feet, we will see a continued cycle of instability and new crises," she said.
Earlier this year, Jolie and Pitt donated $2 million to a Namibian wildlife refuge. As we often ask: how awesome is Angelina Jolie?!?
