One Direction tour: Canadian officials shut down Toronto street as thousands of fans gather for a glimpse of the boys

They are at the top of their game on home turf, selling out their arena tour in minutes after fans queued for up to 40 hours to get their hands on tickets.


But One Direction have taken their quest for super stardom global, and judging by the overwhelming reception they have received in Canada this week, they're off to a flying start.


Officials were forced to shut down the street outside the Toronto headquarters of Much Music when the band stopped by to make their first appearance on Canadian television (Celebrity Hollywood)
